Though not specific to Khon Kaen, this new website documents the deaths of foreigners in Thailand: http://www.farang-deaths.com/

When Katt was running Toro Loco, we had a version of a Tequila Sunrise called an Isaan Sunrise. At the time, Jose Cuervo Gold was available at Tops Central Plaza, but they stopped carrying it. If I recall correctly, forum member Pianoman was nice enough to picks up a bottle in Udon Thani once. Anyway, I was in Tops today and am now about to have an Isaan Sunrise! Tops had a bottle of Silver, too.

A bit more about the Isaan Sunrise:

Thank you for both your Excel Memory and kind mention... Let it Never Be Said that I have not done whatever possible to help a Good Friend continue their Drinking Habits... I hope to be making one of my Usual "Villa Market" runs again soon to see their New Location in Udon, plus to hopefully find many new items available in the new location...

It looks like direct flights to Phuket and China may be coming soon. I wish Lao Air would try offering flights from KKC to Vientianne and Luang Prubang again.
